First Artifact for New World of Coca-Cola Arrives in Atlanta
1939 Latin American delivery truck showcased as new WOCC begins to take shape
The first treasure for the new World of Coca-Cola, currently under construction at Pemberton Place in downtown Atlanta, arrived at its new home in Atlanta on June 23, 2006.
The artifact is a 1939 Chevrolet panel delivery truck used to deliver Coca-Cola in the southern portions and suburbs of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Donated by David Lee of Reginald Lee Bottling S.A., the vehicle is one of the older Coca-Cola system delivery trucks in existence, but it still runs and has been featured in parades.
The truck's early arrival at the new WOCC will enable the construction of the walls of its exhibit room around the vehicle.
This delivery truck is just a sample of the many exciting items that will be found in the new WOCC, which is slated to open during the summer of 2007. The new facility will offer an entirely different experience from the current WOCC at Underground Atlanta. The new WOCC is being built next to the Georgia Aquarium, which opened in November 2005 on land donated by The Coca-Cola Company.
The new WOCC will show an exciting glimpse of how The Coca-Cola Company is evolving, the unique relationship we enjoy with the people who love our brands around the world, and the mark we have left on culture throughout these first 120 years.
